🔍 Legend or history?
In the forest above Rašov stands a memorial to a woman who, the story goes, died here in 1809. But which parts of the story are documented — and which are merely "known"? Become the chronicler's assistant: examine the claims one by one and judge each. The final verdict is yours.
Is it documented?
⚖️ Your verdict
Did a woman travelling with the French army die here in 1809?
And the chronicler's view?
The honest answer is: it cannot be decided. No source confirms the legend — but the stone did stand here, the name "At Countess Barborka's" is still used, and in 1809 the country was demonstrably full of French soldiers. That is why the museum tells both: the legend and the sources. Everyone must judge for themselves — which is exactly what a historian does.
