For generations, farming was the main livelihood here. This section shows tools for working the soil, harvest equipment, animal husbandry gear and small items from farm buildings.

The exhibition traces how farm work changed from hand tools to the first machines — and how private farming ended. In the 1950s, communist Czechoslovakia collectivised agriculture: family farms were pressured into joining a JZD, a state-controlled agricultural cooperative, and farmers became labourers paid in “work units” instead of owning their harvest. The collection includes a member’s work-unit record book and a 1957 propaganda leaflet urging Rašov’s farmers to join the cooperative. One sheet of paper that holds an entire era.

Try it yourself: count your own day on the collective farm, using the quotas from the exhibited record.
